Just found one of these that is brand new never run (and priced real cheap) and im wondering if there was a way to limit timing on it like I do with the stock one? Has the pertronix igniter in it.

The dist has 3 sets of different length brass L shaped brackets that get installed under the weight return springs and depending on which length set is installed will limit how far the weights move thus allowing the amount of advance, the brackets work out to something like 12, 18, & 20 deg's of advance.

So you could set your timing at 16deg at idle use the 12 deg L bracket and have a total of 28 deg's of advance.

I had even taken the longest L bracket 20 deg's, re-bent it to about 10deg's and cut off the excess, since I would never use it in it's current setting, then set my initial at 18 deg at idle then the 10 deg's of the bracket giving 28 deg's total. You will find with that much inital you will need a high torque starter.

It also comes with 3 sets of different tension springs to set when the advance curve starts.

It requires spiral cores wires with female boots like the ones used on MSD Dist's.

All this info can be found here : http://www.pertronix.com/support/manual ... gnitor.pdf
